Bohach takes sixth Qualifier for 105th WV Amateur Championship at Guyan

The sixth qualifier for the 105th WV Amateur Championship, presented by Astorg Motor Company and Mercedes-Benz of Charleston and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), took place May 20 at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington.  Chris Bohach of Ona was the Medalist of Monday’s qualifier with an even par 71.

Other major presenters include United Bank and The Greenbrier.

Over 400 golfers from West Virginia have registered to qualify for this year’s Amateur Championship.  There were 52 players competing on May 20 for 14 qualifying spots and two alternates in the Championship.  The other qualifying players from today were:

  • Tanner Vest of Shady Spring, (+1) 72;
  • Trenton Roush of New Haven, (+1) 72;
  • Mason Weese of Charleston, (+2) 73;
  • Sammy Shy of Huntington, (+3) 74;
  • Kellen Pauley of Hurricane, (+3) 74;
  • Blake Davis of South Charleston, (+4) 75;
  • Anderson Goldman of Charleston, (+4) 75;
  • Matthew Carney of Barboursville, (+4) 75;
  • Jarod Adkins of Logan, (+4) 75;
  • Chase Wheeler of Prichard, (+4) 75;
  • Chase Preston of Chapmanville, (+4) 75;
  • Gavin Martin of Scott Depot, (+5) 76; and
  • Joshua Martin of Poca, (+5) 76.

The alternates are Jason Moses of Huntington and Parker O’Dell of Hurricane.

“We are happy to host this West Virginia Amateur Qualifier,” said Guyan’s Head Golf Professional Rick Ellison.  “We have 11 Guyan members in this event and the reigning champion, Cameron Jarvis, is a member here.”

“The heat didn’t stop today from being a successful qualifier for the 105th WV Amateur Qualifier presented by Astorg Auto and Mercedes Benz. Our appreciation goes to the entire staff at Guyan Golf & Country Club,” said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware.”

The remaining qualifying date and location is:

May 22 “Last Chance Qualifier” at Stonewall Resort, Roanoke.

The 105th Amateur Championship will take place May 26-29 at The Greenbrier, which has hosted the event 97 of the past 104 years.
