The 2025 Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), spent the weekend in the Mid-Ohio Valley, visiting St. Mary’s Golf Course on Saturday and Minibel Par 3 Golf Course in Vienna on Sunday.
The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience, with AAA and AA playing nine holes, and A playing six holes.
The first event of the weekend was played Saturday, May 17, at St. Mary’s Golf Course, featuring a field of 20 golfers aged 5 to 18. Division winners were:
- AAA: Zach Roush of St. Mary’s, (+7) 39;
- AA: no entrants; and
- A: John (Vito) Faini of Morgantown, (+5) 27.
“We’re excited to host these young golfers and show them a great opportunity to enjoy the sport,” said Jonathan Morrison of the St. Mary’s golf staff. “The course is in better shape now than it was at the beginning of the year, and the greens are coming along.”
The second event of the weekend was played Sunday, May 18, at Minibel Par 3 Golf Course in Vienna, featuring a field of 19 golfers aged 5 to 18. Division winners were:
- AAA: Brody Lemon of Morgantown, (+4) 31;
- AA: Mason Karp of Weston, (+11) 38; and
- A: Anthony (Rocco) Faini of Morgantown, (+6) 24.
“We’ve been part of the Rookie League for a number of years, and we’re always excited to host these young golfers,” said Minibel’s First Tee Coach George Totter.
“We so appreciate these two courses for hosting our young golfers and giving them what is often their first competitive experience in an easy atmosphere,” said First Tee – West Virginia Program Director Alyssa Scragg. “These young golfers are the future of our sport, so we’re always glad to have a weekend in the Mid-Ohio Valley for the WVGA and the Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League.”
