WVGA Ladies League Opens Two Days at Alpine Lake Resort

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Ladies League saw a field of 48 golfers Saturday at Alpine Lake Resort in Terra Alta.  The women used a modified “best ball” format.

Top honors in First Flight Gross went to the team of Kimberly Eaton of Charles Town, Karen Kinnett of Shepherdstown, Karen Rainey and Janie Webber, both of Daniels, at seven over par 140.  First Flight Net went to the team of Lauren Ramsey and Kaitlin Satzer, borth of Bridgeport, Kathryn Alvaro of Morgantown and Leigh Chandler of Fairmont with a 10 under par 123.

Top honors in Second Flight Gross went to the team of Leanne Straubm Lisa Schawalder of Corapolis, Pa., Carol Varner of Wheeling and Donna Dugas of Warwood at 23 over par 156.  Second Flight Net went to the team of Vickie Mastalerz, Pam Jacobs, Cathy Vitez and Nancy Archer of Terra Alta with a 13 under par 120.

“We were thrilled to have a field of 48 women on the course today for the fourth event of our 2024 Ladies League,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.  “As always, I enjoy seeing courses that are new to me, and Alpine Lake is a real treat.”

“Year back, we hosted ladies’ championship events, and we’re glad to have the opportunity to host the ladies again in this inaugural season of the WVGA Ladies League,” said Alpine Lake’s Head Golf Professional Caleb Hagerberger.  “We’re excited to see both the team aspect of this event and the camaraderie of the women on the course.”
