WVGA Ladies League Continues Season on Woodhaven Golf Course in Daniels

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Ladies League saw a field of 36 golfers Thursday at the Woodhaven Golf Course in Daniels.

Top honors in First Flight Gross went to the team of Claytina Shepherd of Beckley and Karen Rainey, Jamie Webber and Linda Stroud, all of Daniels, at six under par 66.  First Flight Net went to the team of Jackie Hayslette, Misty Jeckering, Esther Joo and Kathy Thompson, all of Summersville, with a 21 under par 51.

Top honors in Second Flight Gross went to the team of Lisa Schawalder of Coraopolis, Pa., Leisa Shawley, Vickie Monto and Carol Varner, both of Wheeling, with a six under par 66.  Second Flight Net went to the team of Jill Newman, Donna Panucci of Union and Kim Neville and Lois Kineer, both of Hurricane, with a 26 under par 46.

“We were thrilled to have a field of 36 women on the course today for the third event of our 2024 Ladies League,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“We are glad to have the opportunity to host the Ladies League both during its inaugural season and in future years,” said Woodhaven’s Head Golf Professional Matt Felber.  “This hear is causing everyone issues, but plenty of women are still looking for options to grow the game of golf in West Virginia.”

The Ladies League is back in action Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8, at Alpine Lake Resort in Terra Alta.
