2024 WV Amateur Series presented by PSIMED

The West Virginia Amateur Series presented by PSIMED is a fun and competitive series that includes many levels of competition and challenge on some of the most revered courses in our state.  

Registration: All contestants must register and pay in advance for each tournament. Entries may be paid for via online registration. Registration into each event must be filed prior to the entry deadline. No “day of” payments will be accepted at any time. Please contact the WVGA if you have questions.

Eligibility: Contestants may be a male or female golfer who is an active member of the WVGA with a USGA Handicap Index.

Entry Fee:  $65 per event. Includes greens fee and cart as well as a chance at gift certificate prizes.

Entry Deadline: The entry deadline for each WV Amateur Series event will be two days prior to each tournament date at 8:00am. No entries will be accepted after this time.

Withdrawal Policy: Refunds will be issued to those who properly withdraw before the entry deadline. A $8 processing fee will be assessed. Withdrawals made after the entry deadline will not be issued a refund, with the exception of a medical emergency or the like.

Transfer of Entry: For West Virginia Golf Association One-Day events only, players may transfer their entry fees to another one-day event site. To successfully transfer the entry fee, players must submit a written request to Sarah Cole, prior to the entry deadline from the specific event from which you are transferring.

Pairing Request / Pairings: The WVGA accepts pairing requests at each of our WV Amateur Series events. Only one player request for the Championship Flight.  Players may email Sarah Cole to make pairing requests. Pairings will be made and released at least one day prior to each event and will be included in your Player Information email.

Format: 18-hole individual stroke play competitions. There will be four (4) Flights for each event – Championship (Gross), Men’s (Gross & Net), Women’s Championship (Gross), and Women’s (Gross & Net).

*Course Handicaps will be used for the Net portion of the Men’s and Women’s Flights.

Flights/Yardages: Championship Flight – This will be strictly a gross competition flight and will play from approximately 6,800 yards. Men’s Flight – This will be a gross and net competition flight and will feature multiple sets of tees; a Men’s 49&U Tee (6,400 yards), Men’s 50-64 Tee (6,100 yards), and Men’s 65+ Tee (5,600). Women’s Championship Flight – This will be strictly a gross competition flight and will play approximately 6,100 yards. Women’s Flight– This will be a gross and net competition flight and will feature multiple sets of tees; a Women’s 49&U Tee (5,600 yards), Women’s 50-64 Tee (5,200), and Women’s 65+ Tee (4,800 yards).

Players Meeting / Announcements: A WVGA staff member will hold a player’s meeting 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the shotgun round. It is imperative that all players be at their golf carts at this time so that the WVGA staff can go over the Notice to Players for that particular day as well as any announcements from the host facility. Once concluded, players will be instructed to their starting holes.

Score Posting: At the conclusion of each event each player’s score will automatically be posted to the GHIN Handicap System. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive round, as this will result in a double post.

Points: WV Amateur Series Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 15 finishers in both gross and net divisions in each flight. State Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top three (3) gross finishers in both the Championship Flight and the Women’s Flight.

*Should a senior or junior golfer place in the top three (3) in the championship or women’s flight, additional Senior Player of the Year and Junior Player of the Year points will be awarded in a 30-20-10 structure. 

Year-End Awards / Recognition: All Player of the Year awards will be presented to the players at the season-ending WV Amateur Series event.

Exemptions: The Top 2 players in the WV Amateur Series presented by PSIMED (Championship Flight) Player of the Year standings will earn exemptions into the following years’ 2024 WV Open Championship and 2025 WV Amateur Championship.
