Wassick takes first WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Lakeview Resort

Dan Wassick of Morgantown shot his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day for the season at Tuesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown with an even par 72.

“Lakeview Resort provided an excellent day of golf for our Senior Series,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“We hope the golfers saw the improvements we’ve made to the course so it’s in the best shape in a decade.  We also need to give a shout out to the grounds crew for getting us through this heat,” said Lakeview’s Head Golf Professional Andy Schallmo.  “We thank WVGA and the golfers for supporting our course and we hope they had fun today.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  The Diamond Division is sponsored by Donnie Smith and Emergency Physicians Resource Organization and John Bumgarner with State Farm.

Overall, 78 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Wassick winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: Chuck Workman of Marlinton, (-4) 68;
  • Silver Gross: Joe Crislip of Parkersburg, (+6) 78;
  • Silver Net: Hank Middlemas of Fairmont, (-2) 70;
  • Gold Gross: Michael Wylie of White Sulphur Springs, (E) 72;
  • Gold Net: Bob Cain of Clarington, Ohio, (-3) 69; and
  • Diamond Gross: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+17) 89.
