Two Qualify for AJGA Event from Bridgeport Callaway Junior Tour Event

The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), played the Bridgeport Country Club Tuesday under sunny skies and high temperatures.

Today’s event featured a total field of 99 golfers aged 9 to 18.  Cooper Ward of Beaver, playing in the boys 17-18 division, won his second Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys this season, finishing at one under par (-1) 71. Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., playing in the girls 15-18 division, won her sixth Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls this season at 12 over par (+12) 84.

 

 

 

 

Division winners were:

  • Boys 12 and under: Graydi Flohr of Daniels, (+13) 85;
  • Boys 13-14: Alex Randolph of Bridgeport, (+3) 75;
  • Boys 15-16: Isaac Hayes of Hurricane, (E) 72;
  • Boys 17-18: Cooper Ward of Beaver, (-1) 71;
  • Girls 10-14: Marlin Trembush of Morgantown, (+46) 120; and
  • Girls 15-18: Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., (+12) 84.

“We’re pleased to say that Cooper Ward and Isabelle Studli earned exemptions today to the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) WVU Medicine/United Hospital Center Junior Championship here in mid-July,” said Bridgeport’s Assistant Golf Professional Tanner Kolbe.  “The course conditions were still a bit damp today, but our maintenance crew has kept the course in great shape.  Lucas Ware and the WVGA always do a great job, and we’re happy to have them here with us.”

WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware said, “These young golfers did a great job under these hot conditions, and we thank the Bridgeport staff for having the course in such good condition.”
