The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), played the first day of a two-day, 36-hole event on Monday at Parkersburg Country Club. Tuesday’s round will take place at Rt. 56 Golf Course in Ravenswood.
Today’s event featured a total field of 100 golfers aged 9 to 18. Jude Walker of Elizabeth, playing in the boys 13-14 division, won his third Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys this season, finishing at two under par (-2) 71. Madilyn Buttrey of Williamstown, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won her first Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls this season at five over par (+5) 79.
Division winners were:
- Boys 12 and under: Maddox Woollard of Hurricane, (+10) 83;
- Boys 13-14: Jude Walker of Elizabeth, (-2) 71;
- Boys 15-16: Parker O’Dell of Hurricane, (+3) 76;
- Boys 17-18: Parker Vannoy of Mineral Wells, (-1) 72;
- Girls 10-14: Valentina Aguilar of Elkins, (+16) 90; and
- Girls 15-18: Madilyn Buttrey of Williamstown, (+5) 79.
“With our history with Larry Martin and the origins of the Junior Tour, it means so much to me and this facility to give back to the kids,” said Parkersburg’s Head Golf Professional Adam Chesnut. “We’re giving them a great course experience here.”
WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware said, “These crowd of young golfers did a great job on this challenging course, and we thank Adam and his staff for their hospitality and for having the course in such good condition.”
