Three-time champion Christian Brand of Hurricane took his fourth title at the 92nd West Virginia Open Championship on Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Hurricane. Brand broke yesterday’s tie with 2023 Champion Ryan Bilby of Follansbee to finish at 11 under par (-11) 205 for the three-day tournament.
Professional golfers Bilby and Kenny Hess of Parkersburg tied for second at nine under par (-9) 207. Rounding out the top ten were:
- Sam O’Dell of Hurricane, (-8) 208;
- Nick Dent of White Sulphur Springs, (-7) 209;
- Chris Williams of Scott Depot, (-7) 209;
- Zach Chapman of Culloden, (-5) 211;
- Will Evans (p) of Charleston, (-5) 211;
- David Bradshaw (p) of Harpers Ferry, (-5) 211; and
- Thadd Obecny II (p) of Wheeling, (-5) 211.
Tied for Low Junior honors at four under par (-4) 212 were Stephen McDavid of Scott Depot and Jack Michael of Huntington. Earning Low Senior honors at five over par (+5) 221 was Jonathan Clark of Hurricane.
“This has been a great tournament, full of changes and excitement. We congratulate Christian on his fourth WV Open Championship,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack. “We want to thank Generations Ford and Generations Physical Therapy for their support, and Sleepy Hollow Golf Club for their hospitality and great course conditions.”
