Steve Sprout of Parkersburg took his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, shooting a four under par (-4) 68.
Overall, 98 players enjoyed the mountain course. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We appreciate the WVGA Senior Series playing our course today, although it was bittersweet following the passing last week of our long-time Director of Golf Sherri Harold,” said Canaan’s Interim Director of Golf Orion McClurgh.
“This turnout in this beautiful location gave us all a chance to celebrate everything Sherri was to golf in West Virginia,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
