Richard Carder Takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Green Hills

Richard Carder of Fort Ashby took the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Green Hills Country Club in Fairmont, shooting a one over par (+1) 71.

Overall, 71 players enjoyed the day on the links.  The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“We appreciate the WVGA Senior Series playing our course today, and we think they were challenged by our course,” said Green Hills’ Pro Shop Manager Keaton Linger.

“This was a great day in Fairmont, and we appreciate the hospitality,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to Carder winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Tom Williams of Bridgeport, (+2) 72;
  • Senior Net: George White of Fairmont, (-3) 67;
  • Silver Gross: Eric Fairbanks of Morgantown, (+6) 76;
  • Silver Net: George Abel of Grafton, (-2) 68;
  • Gold Net: David McCallister of Marietta, Ohio, (-1) 69;
  • Diamond Gross: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+14) 84; and
  • Diamond Net: Thomas Hamilton of Charleston, (+9) 79.
