Peter Amburgey of Charleston takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Stonehaven

Peter Amburgey shot a four over par (+4) 76 after a three-way scorecard playoff to earn Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, on the Stonehaven Course at The Village of Glade Springs in Daniels.

Overall, 93 players enjoyed today’s Senior Series event.  The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“We just want to thank everybody for coming out today and putting up with the weather,” said Stonehaven’s Head Golf Professional Matt Felber.  “I know it was a long day, but we hope everyone enjoyed the course.”

“Thank you to Matt Felber and his staff for great course conditions and getting the worst of the rain to hold off until we finished,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to Amburgey winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: Douglas Kincaid of Weston, (-9) 63;
  • Silver Gross: Jeff Hughes of Scarbro, (+4) 76;
  • Silver Net: Bill Kincaid of Charleston, (-2) 70;
  • Gold Gross: Jim Cragett of Crab Orchard, (+4) 76;
  • Gold Net (for the second consecutive event this season): Mike Swearingen of Fairmont, (E) 72;
  • Diamond Gross: Bob White of Hurricane, (+31) 103; and
  • Diamond Net: James McKnight of West Columbia, (+20) 92.
