Two teams faced off Sunday afternoon for the West Virginia Golf Association’s (WVGA) Four-Ball Match Play Championship on the Palmer Course at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke Sunday, with Bryson Karp and Matt Gissy, both of Weston, emerging as the 2025 champions, defeating Cam Roam and Duncan Waugaman, both of Huntington, 1 Up on the final hole.
“It’s been great a great Championship weekend, and we congratulate our 2025 Champions Bryson and Matt. This was a close match that was tied through 17 holes,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack. “We thank Mike Rogers and the Stonewall staff for their hospitality. You can’t beat a weekend of exciting golf and ‘Parrot Heads.’”
Following Friday’s Individual Stroke Play Round, qualifying for the Round of 16, Saturday’s Round of 16 and Quarterfinals, Sunday’s Semi-Finals showed some surprises.
In Semi-Final action, the team of Cam Roam and Duncan Waugaman, both of Huntington, defeated 2023 Co-Champions Cory Hoshor of Eleanor and Davey Jude of Kermit 3 and 2. Bryson Karp and Matt Gissy, both of Weston, defeated Parker O’Dell and Isaac Hayes, two Callaway Junior Tour players from Hurricane, in 20 holes.
“We were excited to host these outstanding players on our great course for three days,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers. “We congratulate Bryson and Matt on their hard-fought win.”
