Joe Crislip of Parkersburg took his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Monday at Preston Country Club in Kingwood, shooting an even par (E) 72.
Overall, 94 players enjoyed the great weather at today’s Senior Series event. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We enjoy hosting the seniors every year, and this year we have the most golfers we’re had in a long time,” said Preston’s Event Coordinator Tim Bucklew. “We looked forward to a great day, and the course is in great condition, even with the recent rains.”
“Thank you to Joanna Passerby, Tim Bucklew and the entire Preston Country Club staff for their course conditions and hospitality,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
In addition to Crislip winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Michael Koreski of Parkersburg, (+1) 73;
- Senior Net: T.C. Chappelear of Wheeling, (-3) 69;
- Silver Net: Robert Newlin of Morgantown, (-5) 67;
- Gold Gross: Gary Hawkins of Fairmont, (+3) 75; and
- Gold Net: David McCallister of Marietta, Ohio, (-3) 69.
