Jeff Hughes of Scarbro took his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day of the season at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Grandview Country Club in Beaver shooting a four under par (-4) 68.
Overall, 99 players braved the heat on Grandview’s course. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We are always happy to have the WVGA Senior Series event here,” said Grandview’s owner Randy Scott. “This was a record number of players for a Senior Series event.”
“Randy Scott and the Grandview staff provided a great day of golf for our crowd, complete with safety measures for the heat,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
In addition to Hughes winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Bill Ray of Beaver, (-2) 70;
- Senior Net: Steve Sprout of Parkersburg, (-7) 65;
- Silver Net: Mark Eggleton of Hurricane, (-12) 60;
- Gold Gross: Charles Pullins of Daniels, (+3) 75;
- Gold Net: Mike White of Chapmanville, (-3) 69; and
- Diamond Gross and Net: Darrell Loggins of Verdunville, (+12) 84.
