“The Palmer Course at Stonewall Resort is excited to host the last of the four tournaments in the Callaway Junior Tour High School Series presented by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal. Some of the best high school players descended on Stonewall, and the test for them was a good one, as it always is here. The winner of this event, team and individual, should be a heavy favorite come October to win the State Championship,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers. “The extreme dry weather has taken its toll on this and may other golf courses across the region, but the course is very playable and, with the cooler temperatures we had over the weekend, we saw some recovery we the maintenance procedures we have incorporated in the last few weeks.”
Teams participating today were from the following high schools: Bridgeport (2 teams), Buffalo, East Fairmont, Elkins, Fairmont Senior, George Washington (2 teams), Gilmer County, Grafton, Hurricane (2 teams), Jefferson, John Marshall, Lewis County, Linsly, Parkersburg South, Petersburg, Philip Barbour, Pocahontas County, Point Pleasant, Roane County, University (2 teams), Vinton County, Ohio (2 teams), Washington, Weir, Wheeling Central and Winfield.
