The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), survived the heat at the Preston Country Club in Kingwood on Tuesday.
Today’s event featured a total field of 54 golfers aged 9 to 18. Jason Underwood of Weston, playing in the boys 17-18 division, won his first Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys this season, finishing at three over par (+3) 75. Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., playing in the girls 15-18 division, won her seventh Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls this season at nine over par (+9) 81.
Division winners were:
- Boys 12 and under: Carter Bishoff of Oakland, Md., (+19) 91;
- Boys 13-14: Bentley Shirkey of Barboursville, (+6) 78;
- Boys 15-16: Trace Tucker of Fairmont, following a three-way playoff, (+11) 83;
- Boys 17-18: Jason Underwood of Weston, (+3) 75;
- Girls 10-14: Alexis Bolen of South Charleston, (+45) 117; and
- Girls 15-18: Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., (+9) 81.
“We look forward to having the future of golf back on the course again in the form of these young golfers,” said Preston’s Event Coordinator Tim Bucklew. “While the heat was a factor, the course is in good shape and provided a good test for these golfers.”
WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware said, “These young golfers handled the heat as well as anyone could, and we thank the Preston staff for hosting us today and for their heat safety measures.”
