Harold Payne of Hurricane took Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, shooting a three over par (+3) 73.
Overall, 101 players enjoyed slightly cooler weather on the course. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We are always happy to have the WVGA Senior Series event here,” said Berry Hills’ Head Golf Professional Barry Evans. “This is a tremendous turnout for a Senior Series event.”
“Barry Evans and the Berry Hills staff provided a outstanding course conditions and a great day of golf for our crowd,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
In addition to Payne winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Bill Ray of Beaver, (+5) 75;
- Senior Net: Maximillian Morris of Princeton, (+1) 71;
- Silver Gross: Harold Payne of Hurricane, (+3) 73;
- Silver Net: Scott Toney of Gauley Bridge, (-3) 67;
- Gold Gross: David Eller of Barboursville, (+8) 78;
- Gold Net: Bob Gray of Barboursville, (-2) 68;
- Diamond Gross: Bob White of Hurricane, (+18) 88; and
- Diamond Net: Joe Funderburk of Charleston, (+2) 72.
