Harold Payne of Hurricane took his third Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Monday at Parkersburg Country Club on a scorecard playoff with Scott Bibbee of Vienna, shooting a one under par (-1) 72.
Overall, 102 players enjoyed the great fall weather at today’s Senior Series event. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We’ve hosted the Senior Series for quite a few years and today was a great ending to our WVGA season,” said Parkersburg’s Head Golf Professional Adam Chesnut. “Even though Mother Nature is undefeated this season, the course was in really good shape today and the seniors really enjoyed the course.”
“Adam and the Parkersburg staff provided our golfers with a great fall day of golf in beautiful weather conditions,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We were pleased with the size of the turnout!”
In addition to Payne winning the Senior Silver category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Michael Koreski of Parkersburg, (E) 73;
- Senior Net: Dave Hamilton of Fairmont, (-2) 71;
- Silver Net: Steven Dean of Joppa, Md., (-3) 70;
- Gold Gross: Nevin Wilson of Hurricane, (+3) 76;
- Gold Net: Dickey Foster of Nitro, (E) 73, on a scorecard playoff with Mike Swearingen of Fairmont;
- Diamond Gross: Denis Minor of Moundsville, (+8) 81; and
- Diamond Net: Duane Lescalet of Wheeling, (+1) 74.
