Glenn Yost of Barboursville took his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Fincastle Golf Course in Bluefield, Va., shooting a one over par (+1) 71.
Overall, 103 players enjoyed the great weather at today’s Senior Series event. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of rain, so the course is green and lush. The temperatures dried it out and it played firm and fast, with greens in good shape,” said Fincastle’s General Manager John O’Neal. “We’re excited to have the seniors here and glad they want to come play our course!”
“The course conditions were great today, and so was the hospitality provided by the folks here at Fincastle,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
In addition to Williams winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:
• Senior Gross: Carl King of New Haven, (+7) 77;
• Senior Net: Steve Sprout of Parkersburg, (-1) 69;
• Silver Gross: Glenn Yost of Barboursville, (+1) 71;
