Defending Champion Carter Leads West Virginia Senior Open by Three Stokes 

Defending Champion Pat Carter of Huntington leads the first day of the West Virginia Senior Open, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), in the championship division by three strokes at the Raven Golf Course at Snowshoe.  The two-day event is open to both amateur and professional golfers.

Carter, five-time champion, leads the field of 23 golfers in the championship division with a one under par (-1) 71, scoring three birdies during the round.  Chris Daniels of Beckley holds second place at two over par (+2) 74.  Bryan Myers of Wheeling and Michael Koreski of Parkersburg are tied for third at three over par (+3) 75.  Tied for fifth at four over par (+4) 76 are John Bumgarner of Scott Depot, Chuck Workman of Marlinton and Ian Patrick of Huntington.

John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, leads the five-player senior division at four over par (+4) 76, leading Cledus Judd of Huntington by one stroke at five over par (+5) 77.

“We’re thrilled to host this championship on the Raven Golf Course at Snowshoe Mountain Resort,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack.  “The course conditions are great and we’re looking forward to the final round on Saturday.”

“The golf course is in great shape and the championship should be a fun time for the seniors out there this weekend,” said Raven’s General Manager Chester Guzek.
