Chuck Workman takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Valley View

Chuck Workman of Marlinton took his first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Tuesday at Valley View Country Club in White Sulphur Springs, shooting a three over par (+3) 75.

Overall, 35 players enjoyed the great weather at today’s Senior Series event.  The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“We are pleased we get to host this group of WVGA senior golfers,” said Valley View’s Jim Tompkins.  “We know there’s competition at the other end of town, but we’re excited these players wanted to join us today.”

“Thank you to Jim Tompkins and the entire Valley View staff for their course conditions, hospitality and enthusiasm,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to Workman winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: John Ridenour of Longbottom, Ohio, (-2) 70;
  • Silver Gross: Harold Payne of Hurricane, (+5) 77;
  • Silver Net: Bart Willis of Logan, (E) 72;
  • Gold Gross: Ron Witt of Masontown, (+12) 84 on a three-way scorecard playoff; and
  • Gold Net: David Snyder of South Charleston, (E) 72 on a scorecard playoff.
