The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), visited Oglebay Resort Thursday with a field of 100 golfers aged 10 to 18.
This was the first day of the “Northern Swing,” presented by the Cindy O’Donnell Foundation. The Swing concludes Friday at Wheeling Country Club. The 2023 Foundation Ambassadors are McCartney Hinkle, John Wharton, Dillon Dunz, Kerri-Anne Cook and Scarlett Albertson.
Jack Michael of Huntington, playing in the boys 15-16 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys following a playoff against Carson Higginbotham of Clarksburg. Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls.
“Oglebay has been all about supporting young people through activities across the entire property, so we’re glad to have these young golfers from across the state see our facility,” said Oglebay’s General Manager of Golf Operations Danny Ackerman.
“I played many junior golf rounds on this course, and it is possibly in the best condition I have seen it. That’s a testament to the great staff they have here with Danny Ackerman at the forefront,” said Lucas Ware, WVGA’s Tournament Manager – Youth Golf.
