WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware said, “We thank Steve Robertson and the Pipestem staff for their hospitality last night and today.  This format makes the event fun for everyone!”

The Par 3 Shootout Monday evening saw 17 two-person teams competing in a nine-hole scramble.  The team of Carson Sergent from Huntington and Cooper Ward from Beaver took top honors with a four under par (-4) 23, aided by four birdies.  Rounding out the top five teams were:

  • Samuel Walker and Chris Phillips, both of Ironton, Ohio, (-3) 24
  • John and Josh Mace of Sistersville, (-2) 25
  • Noah Sergent of Elkview and Hank Lewis of Oakland, Md, (-2) 25 and
  • Logan and Keith Stacy of McGraw, (-1) 26.

“We were very much looking forward to this good test of everyone’s game.  It’s not your normal par 3, having hole lengths from 145 to 230 yards,” said Robertson.  “This event is always a good time and we’re glad to see the WVGA resurrect the event last year.”
