Bryan Myers of Wheeling takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Oglebay Resort

Bryan Myers of Wheeling shot a one under par (-1) 70 to earn Tuesday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, on the Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling.

Overall, 104 players enjoyed May’s first WVGA Senior Series event.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“We’re always excited to partner with the WVGA and to have the senior golfers here from around the state,” said Oglebay’s General Manager Danny Ackerman.  “We’re glad mother nature cooperated and kept the rain to herself, since the course is in great shape.”

“Thank you to Danny Ackerman and his staff for a great event in the Senior Series as we move into May,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to Myers winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: Robert McPeak of Parkersburg, (-1) 70;
  • Silver Gross: Joe Crislip of Parkersburg, (+4) 75;
  • Silver Net: Bill Capelety of Farmington, (-3) 68;
  • Gold Gross: Steve Shaffer of Vienna, (+1) 72;
  • Gold Net: Mike Swearingen of Fairmont, (-3) 68;
  • Diamond Gross: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+13) 84; and
  • Diamond Net: Duane Lescalet of Wheeling, (+13) 84.

The Senior Series is back in action Monday, May 12, on the Stonehaven Course at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels.
