Callaway Junior Rookie League closes 40th season at The Woods Resort

The Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), closed the 2023 season Saturday on The Mountainview Course at The Woods Resort in Hedgesville.

The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience.  Division winners were:

  • AAA (nine holes): Xavier Gunter of Charles Town;
  • AA (nine holes): Braylon Shultz of Kearneysville; and
  • A (six holes): Corban Phillips of Morgantown.

“We love having the Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League here and we’re glad for better weather than we had last year,” said The Woods’ Head Golf Professional Ron Springer. “Our course is in good shape and we happy to help the First Tee program growing in this area.”

“We’d like to thank all the staff at The Woods Resort for helping run a great golf tournament for these junior golfers for our last event of the 40th season,” said WVGA Tournament Manager – Youth Golf.

The event, a partner of Callaway Golf and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association, featured a field of 25 golfers aged 5 to 18 from across West Virginia.
