Scott Perry of Lowell, Ohio, took the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Green Hills Country Club in Fairmont with a one over par 71.
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up. Thanks go to Chuck Workman of Appalachian Sport and Donnie Smith of Emergency Physicians Resource Organization for sponsoring our Diamond Division. Overall, 93 players enjoyed today’s WVGA’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
In addition to Perry winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Bob Clark of Wheeling;
- Senior Net: Eric Swinger of Shinnston;
- Silver Net: George Abel of Grafton;
- Gold Gross: Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg;
- Gold Net: Butch Freeman of Daniels;
- Diamond Gross and Net: Raymond Jones of Harrisville.
Other highlights of the day saw seven birdies for Swiger, six birdies for Shad Butcher of Jane Lew, five birdies and an eagle for Maximillian Morris of Princeton and five birdies each for David Briggs of Carmichaels, Pa. and Mark Stuyvesant of Belmont.
“This is our second year on the WVGA Senior Series schedule. Our first year was great and we’re excited to be back on the schedule. Our 2023 field grew by over a dozen players from last year,” said Green Hills’ General Manager Shawn Linger. “It’s been a while since the course has been in such good shape.”
“The players had a great day for our second year at Green Hills,” said WVGA Tournament Manager Rick Johnson.
