Callaway Junior Tour Battles Heat at Berry Hills in Charleston

The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), battled heat and humidity Monday at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston.

Today’s event featured a total field of 86 golfers aged 9 to 18.  Isaac Hutchison of Lewisburg, playing in the boys 15-16 division, won Monday’s Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys, his first, finishing at four over par (+4) 74. Kianna Garrison of Moundsville, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won her first Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls at 16 over par (+16) 86.

Division winners were:

  • Boys 12 and under: Anderson Lilly of Oak Hill, (+11) 81;
  • Boys 13-14: Titus Smith of Middlebourne, (+5) 75;
  • Boys 15-16: Isaac Hutchison of Lewisburg, (+4) 74;
  • Boys 17-18: Ben Carew of South Charleston, in a three-way playoff, (+8) 78;
  • Girls 10-14: Valentina Aguilar of Elkins, (+19) 89; and
  • Girls 15-18: Kianna Garrison of Moundsville, (+16) 86.

“It’s fun to have this group on the course, especially since I work with several of the kids.,” said Berry Hills’ Assistant Golf Professional Chris Breed.  “It’s good to see them learning and growing the game, and we’re already looking forward to having them back!”

“The players powered through another hot day;” said WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware. “Thanks to the club for providing pizza for all the players after the round!”
