Cook and Sheets take Round of the Day in Callaway Junior Tour at The Pines Country Club

A field of 100 golfers, aged 10 to 18, participated in the Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), Monday at The Pines Country Club in Morgantown.

Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls. Andrew Sheets of Morgantown, playing in the boys 17-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys.

“Getting junior golfers here is good for the game,” said The Pines’ Assistant Head Golf Professional Chris Stansberry.  “We run youth golf programs here and anything we can do to help the youth and grow the game is something we strive to do.”

“Congratulations to all the winners today,” said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware.  “”The Pines Country Club staff, including head PGA Golf Professional Russell Reid and Superintendent Mike Bogroff, are some of the best at doing what they do.”

Division winners were:

  • Boys 12 & under: Bentley Shirkey of Barboursville, (+4) 75;
  • Boys 13-14: Brody Williams of Morgantown, (+12) 83;
  • Boys 15-16: William Johnson of Charleston, (+2) 73;
  • Boys 17-18: Andrew Sheets of Morgantown, (+1) 72;
  • Girls 10-14: Evyn Trembush of Morgantown, (+43) 114.; and
  • Girls 15-18: Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, (+4) 75.
