90th West Virginia Open gets another 12 qualifiers at Pipestem Resort

The fourth of six state-wide qualifiers for the 90th West Virginia Open Championship enjoyed a great day Friday at Pipestem Resort and State Park.  Hoping to qualify for one of 12 spots in the Championship later this month, 38 golfers teed off this morning.

Earning Medalist Honors with a five under par 67 was Bosten Miller of Hurricane.  Other qualifiers were:

  • Hunter O’Neal of Bluefield, Va.;
  • Josh Howell of Charlton Heights;
  • Mitch Hoffman of Poca;
  • Tanner Vest of Shady Spring;
  • Jerod Ewing of Hinton;
  • David Woodrum of Bluefield;
  • Case Tolliver of Bluefield;
  • Cole Burgess of Bluefield
  • David Gibb of Marlinton;
  • Matt Felber; and
  • Rocky Frye of Bramwell.

Alternates are Ben Marsh of Summersville and John McCuskey of Charleston.

“We’re always happy to host WVGA events,” said Pipestem’s Head Golf Professional Steve Robertson.  “We’re glad to see new faces and old friends.”

Other highlights of the day included six birdies for Miller, four birdies and an eagle for O’Neal and four birdies each for Mitch Hoffman of Poca, Josh Howell of Charlton Heights and Benjamin Marsh of Summersville.
