The 2025 West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) High School Series concluded its five-event individual and team series played on courses across West Virginia. With team victories at Edgewood Country Club and Riverside Golf Club, the 2025 Tri-State Cup went to Hurricane High School.
The final event of the Series, the WVGA High School Invite, took place Saturday at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke and featured 25 four-player teams from throughout the state.
The team from Cabell Midland High School took top honors for the second time in this series, finishing at 15 over par (+15) 231. Team members were Carson Sergent, Wyatt Maynard, Andrew James and Jackson Foster.
Rounding out the top five teams were:
- University High School, (+18) 234;
- George Washington High School, (+22) 238;
- Charleston Catholic High School, (+35) 251; and
- George Washington 2, (+37) 253 in a scorecard playoff with three other teams.
Wyatt Maynard of Cabell Midland and Owen Estel of University High School tied for low individual honors, finishing at even under par (E) 72. Rounding out the leading individuals were:
- Ben Carew of Charleston Catholic, (+5) 77;
- Will Gruse of Charleston Catholic, William Johnson of George Washington, Brody Williams of Morgantown and Carson Sergent of Cabell Midland, all finishing at (+6) 78.
“This was a great event, and we were happy to have kids from all over the state,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers. “Our championship course tested these young golfers to their limits. It was great preparation for regional and state tournaments.”
“It’s been a great season for our High School Series,” said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware. “We look forward to watching these young golfers grow and mature throughout their high school and college careers and beyond.”
