The West Virginia Golf Association’s (WVGA) Senior Four-Ball Championship saw one division with an extension of the first day’s lead, while the other saw come-from-behind winners on the Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling.
In the Championship Division, John Bumgarner of Scott Deport and Jonathan Clark of Hurricane extended their first-day lead to finish at 17 under par (-17) 125, aided by six birdies and an eagle. The other teams finishing in the top five were:
- Ian Patrick of Huntington and Todd Westfall of Bridgeport, (-14) 128;
- Bryan Myers and Joe Doerr, both of Wheeling, (-12) 130;
- Steve Sprout of Parkersburg and Scott Perry of Lowell, Ohio, (-7) 135; and
- Michael Koreski of Parkersburg and Jay Davis of St. Clairsville, Ohio, (-6) 136.
Coming from two strokes behind after the first day, the team of Dubie Dailer and Mike Ricci, both of Wheeling, took the Senior Division title by one stroke at six under par (-6) 136. Rounding out the top five were:
- Bob Clark and Penn Kurtz, both of Wheeling, (-5) 137;
- Joe Crislip and Neil Cristiansen, both of Parkersburg, (-2) 140;
- Buddy Butler of Williamstown and Scott Cozzens of Vincent, Ohio, (-1) 141; and
- Gary Hawkins and Hank Middlemas, both of Fairmont, (-1) 141.
“This was a great event for everyone involved, and we congratulate our winners in the Championship and Senior Divisions,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack. “We thank Danny Ackerman and the entire Oglebay staff for their course conditions and hospitality.”
