2023 Four-Ball Champions Bryson Beaver of Elkview and Tanner Vest of Shady Spring came from two strokes back at the end of day one to win the 2025 West Virginia Golf Association’s (WVGA) Four-Ball Championship on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels.
The two-day tournament featured 104 golfers on 52 teams playing in four divisions.
Beaver and Vest finished two strokes ahead of the competition in the Championship Division of 11 teams. Tied for second at 15 under par (-15) 129 were Joseph Kalaskey of South Charleston and Ryan Bilby of Follansbee, as well as Lee van Horn of Huntington and Noah Mullens of Milton. Rounding out the top five teams were Davey Jude of Kermit and Cam Roam of Huntington, tied with Jackson Woodburn of Scott Depot and Jack Michael of Huntington at 14 under par (-14) 130.
“The course was really good for these outstanding players. The greens were absolutely perfect and there wasn’t a blade of grass out of place,” said Glade’s Assistant Golf Professional Cole Moore.
In the First Flight Division of 11 teams, Brian Anania and Chris Williams, both of Scott Depot, broke the first day’s five-way tie to win at 10 under par (-1) 134. Rounding out the top five teams were Hunter O’Neal and Ben Ramsey, both of Bluefield, Va., along with Mason Weese of Charleston and Mitch Hoffman of Hurricane, tied for second at nine under par (-9) 135. Finishing in fourth at eight under par (-8) 136 was the team of Will and William Johnson, both of Charleston. Completing the top five teams were Andrew Johnson of Hurricane and Jonah Willson of Daniels, finishing at six under par (-6) 138.
The Second Flight Division, with 16 teams, ended Jeremy Thompson of Martinsburg and Owen Elliott of Falling Waters breaking the first day’s three-way tie to win at seven under par (-7) 137. Rounding out the top five teams were Jess Ferrell of Fairmont and Jared Taylor of Bluefield finishing second at three under par (-3) 141. In third, finishing at two under par (-2) 142, were Josh Howell and Aaron Kemlock, both of Fayetteville. Drew Green of Beaver and Drew Kane of Bridgeport finished fourth at one under par (-1) 143. Tied for fifth at even par (E) 144 were JC Gould of Indore and Adam Sholes of Charleston, along with Jason and Carl King, both of New Haven.
A three-way tie highlighted the Third Flight, featuring 14 teams, with Mike Veres of Logan and John Evans of Chapmanville winning the division on a scorecard playoff at six over par (+6) 150. Other teams in the playoff were Jason Holstein of Hurricane and Chris Bohach of Ona, along with Logan Cerullo of Fairmont and Andrew Rogers of Clarksburg. Evan and Drew Matlick, both of Keyser, along with Chase Preston of Logan and Jacob Workman of Chapmanville, finished in a tie for fourth at seven over par (+7) 151.
“We congratulate Bryson and Tanner for reclaiming the championship, and congratulate all our flight winners,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack. “Weather wasn’t a factor in the tournament and all our teams played two great days of golf. We thank Jason Dalton and the staff from The Resort at Glade Springs for their preparation and hospitality.”
