WVGA Ladies League Continues Season at Clarksburg Country Club

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Ladies League saw a field of 48 golfers Wednesday at Clarksburg Country Club.

Top honors in First Flight Gross went to the team of Melanie Collins and Bobbie Karr of Parkersburg and Diana Watkins and Daneen Shears of Elizabeth at six over par 146.  First Flight Net went to the team of Lisa Younis and Sylke Knuppel of Shepherdstown, Caroline Ramsey of Bridgeport and Lynn Roth of Charleston with a 13 under par 127.

Top honors in Second Flight Gross went to the team of Drema Watts of St. Albans, Kimberly Mallory of South Charleston, Lois Kinner of Hurricane and Kim Sovine of Morgantown with a 34 over par 174.  Second Flight Net went to the team of Becky Moots of Lost Creek, Lois Gilmore of Nutter Fort and Gloris Davis and Carol Benninger, both of Clarksburg, with a nine under par 131.

In individual stroke play, Daneen Shears of Elizabeth took top gross honors at eight over par 78, while Becky Moots of Lost Creek took top individual net honors with a one under par 69.

“We were thrilled to have a field of 48 women on the course today for the second event of our 2024 Ladies League,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“We are absolutely honored to host these events for the WVGA and especially love supporting women’s golf,” said Clarksburg’s Head Golf Professional Doug Comer.  “The rains have really greened thing up and the course was in outstanding condition today.”

The Ladies League is back in action Thursday, June 27, on the Woodhaven Course at Glade Springs Village in Daniels.
