Team Virginia took the 40th annual “Ye Ol’ Feudin’ Stick” in a two-day battle with Team West Virginia, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs with a final score of 19.5 to 8.5.
Sunday’s singles contests wound up with Team Virginia taking 10 of the 14 matches. On the first day, the fourball round saw West Virginia take the lead 4.5 to 2.5. The foursome round saw Virginia take a clean sweep of all seven matches, leaving the final first score at 9.5 to 4.5 in favor of Virginia.
Each team had eight players under age 49, four players between 50 and 64 and two players over 65.
“‘Ye Ol’ Feudin’ Stick’ is, unfortunately, heading to Virginia,” said Kyle Long, head golf professional at Glade Springs. “We still head a great weekend of golf.”
