Roam and Wong take top spots as WV Amateur Series concludes at Stonewall Resort

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) West Virginia Amateur Series, the final one this season presented by PSIMED, saw Cam Roam of Huntington win Championship flight Monday at Stonewall Resort Wednesday with a one under par 71.   Cathleen Wong of Parkersburg took the Women’s Gross Division with an eight over par 80.

Daneen Shears of Elizabeth took the Women’s Net Division of the season with a seven over par 79.

Bill Capelety of Farmington took the Men’s Gross Division with a six over par 78, while Rick Adkins of Flatwoods, Ky., took the Men’s Net Division with a one under par 71.

“We’ve been looking forward to the PSIMED Amateur Tour event, their last of the season, and hosting some of the best amateur golfers in the state,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers.  “The course spoke for itself and was a good test and this combination made for a great tournament.”

“We want to thank Mike Rogers and the staff at Stonewall Resort for the outstanding course conditions and the great weather at our WV Amateur Series event,” said WVGA’s Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We were thrilled to have 48 players on the course today for this final event of the season in the Amateur Series presented by PSIMED.”

The West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, is open to anyone, male or female, of any skill level. Awards are given in several flights based on net and gross scores.
