Pinkston takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Pocahontas Country Club

Ken Pinkston of Charleston shot the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Monday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Pocahontas Country Club in Marlinton with a three under par 68.

“Thank you to Pocahontas Country Club for inviting us to their great course and showing us such hospitality,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“The course is in good shape with lots of hidden holes and it’s a bit on the long side,” said Pocahontas Country Club President Phillip Cain.  “This is good exposure for us and we’re glad to do this with the WVGA.  Folks may be surprised at just how good this course is.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.

Overall, 60 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; and Gold, 70-79.

In addition to Pinkston winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, (+4) 75;
  • Senior Net: Chuck Workman of Marlinton, (+3) 74;
  • Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane, (+4) 75;
  • Silver Net: Steve Daniels of Clarksburg, (E) 71; and
  • Gold Net: Butch Freeman of Daniels, (-3) 68.
