Morgantown’s Knotts takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Little Creek Park

Barry Knotts of Morgantown shot the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Little Creek Park in South Charleston with a three over par 73.

“Thank you to Little Creek Park for their course conditions, hospitality and exposure to a course many of our golfers haven’t played,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  The Diamond Division is sponsored by Donnie Smith and Emergency Physicians Resource Organization and John Bumgarner with State Farm for sponsoring our Diamond (80+) Division.

Overall, 62 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Knotts winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Chuck Workman of Marlinton, (+10) 80;
  • Senior Net: Jamey Little of South Charleston, (-4) 66;
  • Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane, (+6) 76;
  • Silver Net: Mark Eggleton of Hurricane, (-1) 69;
  • Gold Net: Gary Roush of Mason, (-1) 69;
  • Diamond Gross: Joe Funderburk of Charleston, (+10) 80; and
  • Diamond Net: Robert Bliss of Charleston, (+13) 83.

The Senior Series is back in action Monday, June 3, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane.
