McMillion takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Bridge Haven in Fayetteville

Bill McMillion of Lewisburg shot a one over par (+1) 72 to earn Friday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Bridge Haven Golf Club in Fayetteville.

Overall, 59 players enjoyed the second WVGA Senior Series event of the season.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

The course is in great shape and we’re in a way better position from 2024.  We’ve made improvements in maintenance, carts and more,” said owner John Howell.   “We’re very excited to host this event and hope to make this an annual event and maybe even expand to other WVGA series offerings.”

“Thank you to Josh Howell and Andy Kees, owners of Bridge Haven, for a great event in the Senior Series season,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to McMillion winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: David Moore of Lewisburg, (+5) 76;
  • Senior Net: Damian Elliott of Hillsboro, (E) 71;
  • Silver Net: Jeff Hughes of Scarbro, (+3) 74;
  • Gold Gross: Don Goins of Oak Hill, (+6) 77; and
  • Gold Net: Howard Thomas of Dunbar, (-3) 68.

The Senior Series is back in action Tuesday, May 6, at Oglebay Resort’s Palmer Course in Wheeling.
