Michael Koreski of Parkersburg shot Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke at two over par 74.
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.
“Stonewall Resort is pleased to once again host a WVGA event, this time the Senior Series. This group is always fun to host as they are great followers of WVGA events, as evidenced by the over 100 entrants today,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers. “The course is a tough but fair challenge for the seniors and the hospitality shown by the Stonewall staff made this a great event for all those participating today.”
Overall, 102 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“It’s nice to be back at Stonewall with the cooler weather,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We’re thrilled to have over 100 golfers here today.”
In addition to Koreski winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Net: Paul Gaston of Morgantown, (+3) 75;
- Silver Gross: Joe Crislip of Parkersburg, (+4) 76;
- Silver Net: Steve Sabo of Ona, (-1) 71;
- Gold Gross: Kenneth Zigmond of Logan, (+5) 77;
- Gold Net: Ron Rhoades of Barrackville, (-3) 69;
- Diamond Gross: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+13) 85; and
- Diamond Net: Gary Roush of Mason, (+12) 84.
