Ian Patrick takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Pipestem Resort

Ian Patrick of Huntington shot his second Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Pipestem Resort Golf Course with a seven under par 65.

“Thank you to Pipestem Resort for hosting such a great day for our senior golfers,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“We’ve been busy here and we’re looking forward to seeing the WVGA senior golfers here,” said Pipestem’s Head Golf Professional Steve Robertson.  “The greens are really nice and ‘ball go far’ in the fairways.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  The Diamond Division is sponsored by Donnie Smith and Emergency Physicians Resource Organization and John Bumgarner with State Farm.

Overall, 84 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Groves winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Ian Patrick of Huntington, (-7) 65;
  • Senior Net: Tim Bucklew of Morgantown, (-6) 66;
  • Silver Gross: Dennis Vass of Beckley, (E) 72;
  • Silver Net: Mark Eggleton of Hurricane, (-10) 62;
  • Gold Gross: Jerry Groves of Maxwelton, (-1) 71;
  • Gold Net: Mike White of Chapmanville, (-11) 61;
  • Diamond Gross: Bob White of Hurricane, (+5) 77; and
  • Diamond Net: Gary Roush of Mason, (-6) 66.

The Senior Series is back in action Monday, July 1, at Preston Country Club in Kingwood.
