Hurricane’s John Duty takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Mingo Bottom

John Duty of Hurricane shot the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Friday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at the Mingo Bottom Golf Club in Elizabeth with a one under par 71.

“Thank you to Mingo Bottom for hosting our senior golfers today. Although it was a bit chilly, the course conditions were great,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

“Hosting the WVGA Senior Series is a good thing for Mingo Bottom and new people get to see our course, which is in great shape,” said Mingo Bottom’s General Manager Billy Dotson. “We take pride in our hospitality and folks like our food, so we’re always happy to host WVGA events.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up. The Diamond Division is sponsored by Donnie Smith and Emergency Physicians Resource Organization and John Bumgarner with State Farm for sponsoring our Diamond (80+) Division.

Overall, 83 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Duty winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Jeff Harper of Coolville, Ohio, (+2) 74;
  • Senior Net: John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, (-2) 70;
  • Silver Net: David McCallister of Marietta, Ohio, (-2) 70;
  • Gold Gross: Gary Schrickel of Clairsville, Ohio, (+4) 76; and
