Eddie Griffith of Chapmanville shot Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Greenhills Country Club in Ravenswood with a one over par 73.
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.
“We’re happy to have the seniors back here for the first time in a few years and we hope they enjoyed themselves,” said Greenhills’ Head Golf Professional Alex Easthom. “Like everyone, we’ve struggled with the heat and drought, but everything is greening up again.”
Overall, 68 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“It was great to enjoy this central West Virginia venue today,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We’re glad to bring the Senior Series back to Greenhills Country Club.”
In addition to Griffith winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, (+1) 73;
- Senior Net: Frowde Lockhart of Huntington, (-2) 70;
- Silver Gross: Rick Sponseller of Charleston, (+2) 74;
- Silver Net: Cecil Palmer of Fairview, (-5) 67;
- Gold Gross: Eddie Griffith of Chapmanville, (+1) 73;
- Gold Net: Keith Zigmond of Logan, (-2) 70;
- Diamond Gross: Gary Roush of Mason, (+11) 83; and
- Diamond Net: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+8) 80.
