Gill takes “Last Chance” Qualifier for 105th WV Amateur Championship at Stonewall Resort

The seventh and “last chance” qualifier for the 105th WV Amateur Championship, presented by Astorg Motor Company and Mercedes-Benz of Charleston and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), took place May 22 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke. Other major presenters include United Bank and The Greenbrier. Adam Gill of Wheeling and Matthew Aman of Bridgeport tied as Medalist of Wednesday’s qualifier with a three over par 75.

Over 400 golfers from West Virginia have registered to qualify for this year’s Amateur Championship.  There were 68 players competing on May 22 for the final six qualifying spots in the Championship.  The other qualifying players from today were:

  • Cameron Fallon of Parkersburg, (+4) 76;
  • Chase Wolfe of Charleston, (+6) 78;
  • Tyler Beard of Lewisburg, (+6) 78; and
  • Case Tolliver of Bluefield, (+6) 78;.

“We are honored to host the oldest WVGA event and the top event for amateur golfers in West Virginia,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers.  “The course gave the golfers a true test of what they will face at The Greenbrier.”

“The weather didn’t today stop a close race to qualifying for the 105th WV Amateur Qualifier presented by Astorg Auto and Mercedes Benz. Our appreciation goes to the entire staff at Stonewall Resort,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack.

The 105th Amateur Championship will take place May 26-29 at The Greenbrier, which has hosted the event 97 of the past 104 years.
