Bryan Myers and Bob Clark, both of Wheeling, are set to tee off just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday to determine the 2024 West Virginia Senior Amateur Champion. The Championship, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), is being played at Stonewall Resort. In the Senior Division, Bill Boyle of Vienna and Bart Willis will be playing for their division championship.
“We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s Championship, since match play has been so strong this week,” said Stonewall’s Head Golf Professional Mike Rogers.
In semi-final match play in the Championship Division, Myers defeated John Bumgarner of Scott Depot 6 and 5, while Todd Westfall of Bridgeport defeated Van Stemple of Shepherdstown 2 and 1. In the other semi-final bracket, Michael Koreski of Parkersburg defeated Ian Patrick of Huntington 4 and 3, while Bob Clark of Wheeling defeated Brian McPherson of Belpre, Ohio, 1 up. In the final round leading to Wednesday’s Championship, Myers defeated Westfall 1 up and Clark defeated Koreski 6 and 4.
In semi-final match play of the Senior Division, Bill Boyle of Vienna defeated Reid Carroll of Barboursville 5 and 3, while David Eller of Barboursville defeated Michael Poling of Vienna in 19 holes. In the other bracket, Bart Willis of Logan defeated Jay Kaufman of Mineral Wells by concession, while Martin Morgan of Fairmont defeated Joe Roy of Barboursville 3 and 2. In the final round leading to Wednesday, Boyle defeated Eller 6 and 5, while Willis defeated Morgan in 19 holes.
