Familiar faces take low rounds as Callaway Junior Tour plays Mingo Bottom Golf Club

The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), visited Mingo Bottom Golf Club in Elizabeth Friday with a total field of 66 golfers aged 10 to 18.

Isaac Hayes of Hurricane, playing in the boys 13-14 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys, helped by scoring five birdies. Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls, aided by her three birdies.

“It’s an honor to host a Callaway Junior Tour event. My grandson, Izac Dotson, just moved to Louisville, Kentucky and is returning Friday to play his last WVGA event. So it’s also a sad time for Grandpa, although I get a few more days to visit with him,” said Mingo Bottom’s General Manager and Director of Golf Billy Dotson. “We host a lot of youth events at our course. Our course is owned by three ladies, and they are very glad to let the youth use our course for a day. We understand that these youth are the future of the game of golf, and they learn life lessons on the golf course. Also, they make some memories that last forever. Lots of these youth have never been to Mingo Bottom Golf Club and we hope after a visit we will be in their memory banks for years to come and they will return to play again. Thanks to Chris Slack, Lucas Ware, the staff at the WVGA and the Callaway Junior Tour for choosing us as a stop and we hope to host again next year.”

“Another weather delay couldn’t stop the Callaway Junior Tour from having a successful event today,” said WVGA Tournament Manager – Youth Golf Lucas Ware. “Billy Dotson and his staff at the Club are wonderful hosts and we appreciate them hosting our junior golfers.”
