Wind and rain greeted the first 2025 West Virginia Amateur Series event, presented by PSIMED, and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), Monday at Parkersburg Country Club.
Cam Fallon of Parkersburg won the Championship flight on a scorecard playoff with Cam Roam of Huntington with a one under par (-1) 72.
Susan Glasby of Chesapeake, Ohio, won the Women’s Gross flight scoring an even par (E) 74, while Parkersburg’s Cathleen Wong won the Women’s Net flight with a two over par (+2) 75.
Joe Crislip of Parkersburg won the Men’s Gross flight with a four over par (+4) 77, Austin McVey of Elizabeth won the Men’s Net flight with an even par (E) 73.
Parkersburg’s Head Golf Professional Adam Chesnut said the cold temperatures have provided a hard start to the 2025 season. “The course is in great shape, and we’re glad we get to host the first Amateur Series event of the season since we were flooded out in 2024,” Chesnut explained. “We want golfers to see what we’ve done to come back from last year’s flooding.”
“Despite fighting the rain and wind, we have a record number of 68 players for our first Amateur Series of the year at Parkersburg Country Club,” said WVGA’s Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “I want to thank Adam Chesnut and Superintendent Patrick Maher for always welcoming the WVGA with great course conditions and hospitality.”
The West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, is open to anyone, male or female, of any skill level. Awards are given in several flights based on net and gross scores.
