Fairbanks takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Canaan Valley Resort

Eric Fairbanks of Morgantown shot Tuesday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis at even par 72.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.

“We always look forward to this WVGA event and were excited to have such a full field,” said Canaan’s General Manager Matthew Baker.  “Course conditions were excellent, and everyone enjoyed the break from high temperatures.”

Overall, 108 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“It was great to enjoy the cooler temperatures in the mountains of West Virginia at Canaan Valley Resort,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.  “We’re thrilled to have over 100 golfers for the second day in a row.”

In addition to Fairbanks winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Mike Boggs of Hedgesville, (+2) 74;
  • Senior Net: Damian Elliott of Hillsboro, (-2) 70;
  • Silver Net: Mark Rackowitz of Williamstown, (-6) 66;
  • Gold Gross: Dick Bolen of Morgantown, (+3) 75;
  • Gold Net: Rick Adkins of Flatwoods, Ky., (-3) 69;
  • Diamond Gross: Terry Whitfield of Moundsville, (+17) 89; and
  • Diamond Net: Vernon Simpson of Fairview, (+11) 83.
