Duty takes season’s third WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Preston Country Club

John Duty of Hurricane shot his third Little General Stores Low Round of the Day for the season at Monday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Preston Country Club in Kingwood with a one over par 73.

“Thank you to Preston Country Club for hosting such a great day for our senior golfers,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.  “We’re giving them credit for the great weather, too!”

“We’re always excited to have WVGA senior players,” said Preston’s Michael Cuppett.  “The course is in as good shape as I’ve ever seen it, with greens rolling true and smooth.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  The Diamond Division is sponsored by Donnie Smith and Emergency Physicians Resource Organization and John Bumgarner with State Farm.

Overall, 93 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Duty winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Jerry McKisic of Buckhannon, (+6) 78;
  • Senior Net: David Briigs of Carmichaels, Pa., (-1) 71;
  • Silver Net: William Kincaid of Charleston, (-6) 66;
  • Gold Gross: Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg, (+2) 74;
  • Gold Net: Davd Snyder of South Charleston, (-5) 67;
  • Diamond Gross: Vernon Simpson of Fairview, (+7) 79; and
  • Diamond Net: Duane Lescalet of Wheeling, (+3) 68.
