Duty takes another WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Edgewood Country Club

John Duty of Hurricane shot Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Edgewood Country Club in Sissonville with a one over par 72.   

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up. 

“It’s wonderful for Edgewood Country Club to once again host a WVGA Senior Series event,” said Craig Berner, Edgewood’s head golf professional.  “The course and the weather were better than we’ve had for awhile.”

Overall, 108 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“It was amazing to see over 100 senior golfers here today at Edgewood Country Club from all across the state,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.  “We’ll be sorry to see the Senior Series end for the season on Monday.”

In addition to Duty winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Ian Patrick of Huntington, (+4) 75;
  • Senior Net: Donald Plumley of Barboursville, (-2) 69;
  • Silver Net: Donald Duty of Chapmanville, (+1) 72;
  • Gold Gross: Rick Adkins of Flatwoods, Ky., (+1) 72;
  • Gold Net: Jerry Toothman of Hurricane, (-1) 70;
  • Diamond Gross: Denis Minor of Moundsville, (+13) 84; and
  • Diamond Net: Darrell Loggins of Mount Gay, (+3) 74.

The final Senior Series event of the 2024 season takes place Monday, October 14, at Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna.
